Cefn Coed Under 8's played their 1st game of Treharris Tournament against local rivals Dowlais, in a tense hard fought game they ran out winners with tries from Tom Bush, Evan Bennett and Jack Powell, they were captained by Cameron Davies. Alex Regis was Cefn's top tagger in this game.

Cefn captained by Rhys Wilkins, beat Hosts Treharris 25-15 in their 2nd game try scorers were Tom Bush (2) Evan Bennett, Jack Powell and Cameron Davies. Cian Roome making some superb tags.

Cefn captained by Jack Powell drew with eventual tournament winners Merthyr, the lead changing hands several times. Try scorers for Cefn were Evan Bennett and Jack Powell with a hat trick. Elis Sullivan had a superb game creating 3 of Cefn's tries.

The Mini Green Army captained by Evan Bennett knew they had to score tries to have a chance of winning the tournament, but despite their best efforts to failed to score enough, and finished runners up.Tries from Tom Bush, an incredible ( 80 ) for the season and (5) from Jack Powell saw Cefn unbeaten in the tournament

Cefn captained by Josh Evans pushed Dowlais all the way in this local derby, Max Williams opened the scoring for the Mini Green Army, but failed to stop late Dowlais surge.
Thomas Sullivan and Ellis Roome tackling well, and Lee Morgan, Jay Jones fought well for all the loose ball on the floor.

Cefn captained by Max Williams lost to a much bigger Bargoed team. Ethan Park and Gabriel Morgan had excellent games in defence and attack.

Cefn Coed played hosts Treharris and despite scoreline played some superb rugby. Dafydd Jones was very prominent in attack for Cefn with captain Thomas Sullivan and John Goao
making some strong tackles.

Cefn captained by John Goao lost to eventual tournament winners Merthyr, Joshua Evans and Cian Beddis making some strong runs with Lee Morgan and Max Williams tackled their hearts out.

Cefn Coed Under 8's Tournament
Cefn Coed Under 8's hosted their own Tournament where teams from Cwmgwrach, Tonyrefail, Treharris, Penallta, Tredegar and Beddau took part. The Mini Green Army narrowly losing the final to Penallta 10 - 5 after 10 minutes of sudden death extra time had been played, it was a superb day where all teams taking part played some superb tag rugby.

Talyn Griffiths captained Cefn in their 1st game and after a nervy start from both teams Cefn held a 10-0 lead by half time with tries from Dafydd Day and Tom Bush. Further 2nd half tries were scored by Jack Powell (2) and Cameron McIntyre, Tomos Jones setting up 2 of the tries with some excellent runs.

Dafydd Day captained Cefn in their 2nd game, Jack Powell opened the scoring, and a hat-trick from Tom Bush sealing the win. Rhys Wilkins making his debut for Cefn in this game. Logan Foxcroft and Cian Roome were superb in defence.

Treharris Under 8's 15
In their final group game both teams needed the win to progress to the final, with Treharris having won 1 and drawn 1 of their 2 group games. Evan Bennett opened the scoring for Cefn and 2 Tom Bush tries gave Cefn a 15-5 half time lead. Treharris came back strongly in the 2nd half but 2 further tries from Tom Bush put Cefn into the final. Alex Regis nearly scored his 1st try for Cefn after a weaving run. Evan Roome and Will Bush tagging well for Cefn.

Penallta Under 8's 10 ( aet )
Penallta opened the scoring with their 1st attack of the game. But this seemed to spur Cefn on to greater efforts, time and again only being denied a score by some superb last ditch tagging by Penallta. The half time score being 0-5. The 2nd half started in much the same vain with Cefn pushing for the equalising score and it soon arrived after a superb break by Captain Tom Bush who then sent Jack Powell swerving his way to the line to tie the scores.
It was now Cefn's turn to defend with some superb tagging by Elis Sullivan, Cameron Davies and Alex Regis in particular. At full time the score remained tied at 5 apiece.
The 1st period of sudden death extra time, Cefn thought they had won the game when Tom Bush went over in the corner only for the referee to adjudge he had stepped in touch as he placed the ball down. ( if only they had a TMO on hand )
Both teams when they had possession pounded the oppositions line only to be thwarted by excellent tagging.
However in the last minute of the 2nd period Penallta finally broke free to clinch the final 5-10. It was a superb tense game played in great spirit where both teams agreed that no-one deserved to lose.

Cefn Coed Under 9's hosted their own Tournament where teams from Penallta. Abertillery, Tonyrefail, Newbridge, Treharris, + Beddau took part. The Eventual winners in a hard fought final were Newbridge who beat Abertillery 15pts to 5.

Josh Evans captained Cefn in their opening game, with Ethan Park scoring Cefns try. Gabe Morgan and Thomas Sullivan tackled their hearts out.

Lee Morgan was Cefn's captain, where the team put on a solid and improving performance against eventual finalists Abertillery. Max Williams setting up Ethan Park to again scoring Cefns try. Dafydd Jones and Jay Jones put in some big tackles

The Mini Green Army were now warming to their task and attacking with some flair. Cian Beddis was captain and made some strong runs with Joshua Evans in support, Ellis Roome played his part in setting up Ethan Park to score 2 tries but this wasnt enough to save Cefn

In a fast open game Cefn Coed Under 7's lost their unbeaten record in their last game of the season. Captain for the day was Logan Foxcroft. Tries came from Jack Powell ( 3 ) Cameron Davies, Elis Sullivan, and James Cummings with his 1st try for the club.

The Mini Green Army put in an excellent performance on the day, scoring some superb tries by Tom Bush (4) Cameron McIntyre, and congratulations must go to Jack Powell who scored 2 tries in this match but also his 50th try for this season so far.

Cameron McIntyre captained Cefn and scored a try in this local derby. Other try scorers were Jack Powell with another (5) try haul, Cameron Davies (1) and Cian Roome (1) Making his debut for Cefn was Matthew Gould.

Cefn Coed Under 8's 15
Cian Roome captained Cefn to a hard fought win, some excellent tagging by Cameron Davies, and James Cummings, stemming a lot of Abergavenny attacks. All 3 of Cefn's tries were scored by Tom Bush.

In a superb game of rugby played in great spirit by both sides, The Mini Green Army ran out narrow winners in their local derby ! Jack Powell captained the side as well as scoring (2) tries, bringing him to over ( 40 ) tries for the season. Dafydd Day (1) and Tom Bush (3) also scoring the decisive match winner.

An excellent game of Tag Rugby from both teams. The Mini Green Army were only denied the win by a last minute try from their hosts. Cefn were led well by Tomos Jones, and boosted by the return from injury of Daniel Gould. Try scorers were the Excellent Tom Bush (4) Dafydd Day (1) and Jack Powell (1).

An under strength Cefn due to illness and Mothers Day, resulted in the debuts of two younger players, Rowan Jones and William Bush having excellent 1st games. Cefn still ran in the tries though with Captain Tom Bush (4) Evan Bennett (2) Cameron McIntyre (2) and Dafydd Jones (1) scoring.

Ellis Sullivan captained Cefn as well as scoring a superb solo effort in this hard fought draw.

Alex Regis captained Cefn to a hard fought win. Jack Powell was the star of the show again, side-stepping his way to an amazing (5) tries. The other score coming from Dafydd Day.

Talyn Griffiths captained the Mini Green Army, though they lost they made Aberdare work for every score, with some excellent tagging by Cameron McIntyre and Cameron Davies. Cefn's try coming from Jack Powell, his 10th of the day.

Dafydd Day captained the Mini Green Army. A landmark moment for Tom Bush who scored Cefn's try and his 50th of the season so far. Well done Tom !! Some superb defence by James Cummings and Evan Bennett in this game.

Gabrielle Morgan captained and scored a try in the young Cefn sides best performance of the season to date. Other tries were scored by the superb Josh Evans (2) and Thomas Sullivan. Ethan Park and Lee Morgan in particular put in some good tackles.

Another Superb display from the Mini Green Army. Tries were scored by Captain Ellis Sullivan with a length of the field effort and his first try for the club. (Could show his old man a thing or two). Other scorers were Evan Bennett with a Hat-Trick, Jack Powell (2) Tom Bush (2) Dafydd Day (1). Talyn Griffiths and Cian Roome guested for Resolven and scored a try each, well done to them too!

An excellent win for Cefn who were captained by James Cummings. Cefn shared the tries about showing excellent teamwork, Try scorers were Cameron McIntyre (2) Jack Powell, Cian Roome, Cameron Davies and Evan Bennett.

An superb game of Tag Rugby from both teams ended in a narrow defeat for the Mini Green Army. Dafydd Day captained Cefn as well as scoring 2 tries, other scorers were Jack Powell and Cameron McIntyre.

Joshua Evans captained Cefn against their bigger more experienced opponents, though they all worked hard Josh Evans and Max Williams in particular shone for Cefn.

Tom Bush captained Cefn as well as scoring another Hat-Trick. Some excellent handling skills saw Talyn Griffiths pick up a rolling Ball, beating 2 players before putting Evan Bennett away for the 1st of his hat-trick of tries. Excellent in defence and attack for Cefn was Dafydd Day.

On Sunday 27th Dec, Cefn Under 8's played at half time during Cardiff Blues game against the Dragons at the Cardiff City Stadium. The Youngsters had a fabulous day out as they also waved flags as they welcomed the Blues players onto the field at the start.
Captain for the day was Alex Regis, both defences held firm for the most part, Cefn's only try coming from Tom Bush, with Ynysybwl's equaliser coming at the end of a thrilling contest.

With the last 4 weekends washed out due to bad weather, it was a welcome return to action for Cefn's Junior sides. Some excellent running angles by Talyn Griffiths and Cameron Davies in particular, laid the platform for the ever supporting Tom Bush to score a double hat-trick. Dafydd Day on his birthday had a brace, Cameron McIntyre and Captain Evan Bennett both scored length of the field efforts.

The scoreline doesn't really reflect the effort the Cefn team put into the game. Ethan Park with another strong running game captained the side, and excellent in both attack and defence were Gabrielle Morgan ,Joshua Evans and Max Williams.

In their 1st game in this age group the young Cefn team did well to force the draw against their local more experienced visitors. Captain for the day was James Cummings and Try scorers were Cameron McIntyre (2) and Jack Powell. Elijah Morgan and Rowan Jones made their debuts for Cefn

In a very closely fought match where both teams defences were on top, Cian Roome captained the young Cefn team, where several players were making their debuts, including Bothers Joseph and Jack Davenport and Logan Foxcroft. Tom Bush was Cefn's only try scorer.

With Rhymney unable to field an Under 9's team, Cefn Under 9's played Rhymney's Under 8's in tag. Cefn at first found it hard to readapt themselves to this other form of the game, but grew in confidence as the game wore on. Carly Harris Burke captained Cefn, with Daniel McCarthy making his debut. Ethan Park was the try scorer.

Dafydd Day captained Cefn to an excellent win, Jack Powell scoring a superb Hat-Trick, Cameron Davies scored his first try for the team beating several players on his way to the line. These were added to tries by Tom Bush (2) and rounding off the scoring was Evan Bennett. Top Taggers were Ellis Sullivan and Cameron McIntyre.

Evan Roome captained Cefn to this hard fought win. Try Scorers with their 1st tries for the club were Tomos Jones and Cian Roome, Cameron McIntyre , Dafydd Day (2) with 1 in each half and Tom Bush (2)coming off the bench in the 2nd half to seal the win. Top Tagger was James Cummings.

In Cefn's first home game of the season, an excellent 30 mtr break by Captain Talyn Griffiths led to 1 of Tom Bush's 5 tries. Some excellent defence especially by debutants James Cummings + Cian Roome kept the visitors to 3 scores. A superb break and off-load by Ellis Sullivan led to Jack Powell’s 2nd try, and the scoring was rounded by after some excellent support work by Cameron McIntyre.

In Cefn's opening fixture they played local rivals Merthyr. Try scorers for Cefn were captain Tom Bush, Cameron McIntyre and Jack Powell, whose try at the end secured the draw.

Cameron McIntyre captained Cefn to a fine hard fought win over Nelson, some excellent defence keeping Nelson scoreless. Try scorers were Tom Bush and Daniel Gould.
Cefn Coed Under 8's 25 Dowlais Under 8's 25
Another hard fought draw in this exciting local derby, the lead swapping hands throughout. But with 2 minutes to go Cefn were trailing 5 scores to 3. But to show Cefn's new found fighting spirit tries by Tom Bush and a last gasp try by captain Jack Powell secured the draw.

Captained by Daniel Gould Cefn went into their last game knowing they had to
score lots of tries to give themselves a chance of winning the tournament. And
so it proved with scores from Tom Bush (3) Jack Powell (2) Dafydd Day (2) and
Evan Bennett. Cefn Coed won the tournament from 2nd place Dowlais on try
count.

With Cefn Coed Under 9,s still finding their feet at this age group, the side struggled
in their tournament. 4 of the players Ethan Pitt, Lee Morgan, and Carly and Aaron
Harris-Burke having never played before. But they all put in a spirited performance.

against Treharris.

Luke Oakley captained Cefn, . Try scorers were Bradley Gould and Ethan Parks. Though Cefn lost they tried very hard throughout and when the rest
of their players return and with the addition of a few new faces should have a good season.

Cefn Coed Under 8's got their season off to a flying start by keeping their hosts scoreless with some excellent tagging. Some superb handling and running saw Cefn score six tries for Captain Jack Powell (2), Evan Bennett, Tom Bush (2) and Daniel Gould.

In an Exhibition match for the Mayors appeal, organised by the Cardiff Blues, Cefn captained by Alex Regis, again scored some excellent tries by Tom Bush (4) Jack Powell (2) Evan Bennett (2) and Cameron McIntyre.
