Cefn Coed (U16's) 19 Risca (U16's) 15
Cefn Coed Under 16's came from 0 - 15 down at half-time to overturn a powerful Risca side who scored two tries, one conversion and a penalty in a frustrating first period for the home side.
The second half saw Cefn Coed play some excellent rugby and score three fine tries. The first try was scored by flanker Michael Jones who crashed over from short distance, with James Regan adding the conversion to reduce the deficit to 8 points.
The second try was a superb effort from John Marczak who race clear to score under the posts and finally Liam Jones crashed over for the winning try with Marczak adding the conversion to take the final score to 19 - 15 at the final whistle.

Cefn Coed (Under 16's) 34
Tonna (Under 16's) 10
Cefn Coed produced a superb performance to beat a stubborn Tonna squad who took an early lead with a try and conversion in the first 5 minutes and extended their advantage through a penalty to take the score to 10 - 0 after 8 minutes.
Cefn then took control of the game and score six excellent tries, three either side of half time. The first try came through Nathan Driscoll who scored after a marauding run, finally crashing over with three Tonna players in tow. Next up was Michael Jones who picked up from the base of a ruck to crash over for Cefn's second try of the day, then came John Marczak who sprinted to the line to score after evading four or five tacklers before touching down for the try.
The second half saw Cefn control most of the possession through the forwards who managed to score the next three tries. Cefn's fourth try was scored through Captain Connor Power who crashed over in the corner and the fifth was added when a training ground penalty move came off perfectly which allowed Nathan Driscoll to run in untouched. Cefn's scoring was rounded off by flanker Michael Jones who scored his second try of the game to leave the final score standing at 34 - 10.

Llantwit Fardre RFC (Under 16's) 12
Cefn Coed RFC (Under 16's) 12
Cefn Coed produced an excellent display in this visit to play Llantwit Fardre on a very cold and windswept afternoon. Starting very strongly Cefn entertained a small crowd of supporters with some fine running rugby and scored the first of their two tries through John Marczak who followed James Regan after his break and took the pass which allowed him to sprint in from 40 metres, Regan added the conversion to take the visitors into a 7 - nil lead. Llantwit then scored a try of their own before Cefn extended their lead with another excellent try from Marczak who again sprinted in for the try. Cefn's forwards were finding it difficult to stay on the right side of the referee and from some of the infringements Llantwit were able to gain ground and score the equalising points.
The second half was much the same as Cefn tried to play running rugby but were constantly penalised at the contact area which allowed Fardre to clear their lines on numerous occasions. There were fine breaks from Luke Griffiths, Daniel Wickens and Liam Jones but this was all too late as the referee ended the game with the scores standing at 12 - 12.

Cefn Coed RFC (Under 16's) 22
Rhymney RFC (Under 16's) 5
Rhymney started strongly and scored an early try which spurred Cefn Coed on to produce their best performance of the season. Cefn out muscled the much larger Rhymney pack and through their dominance Captain Connor Power was able to crash over from close range for Cefn's first try of the game. Cefn then extended their lead when centre John Marczak sprinted a full 80 metres to score the try of the day after good work from Chris Davies and Ellis Pugh, James Regan stepped up to slot over the conversion to take the scores to 12 - 5 at half-time.
Cefn increased their lead in the second half when flanker Michael Jones broke free to dive in to score an excellent try, again James Regan kicked the conversion before slotting over a penalty to leave the scores standing at 22 - 5 at the final whistle.
Everyone at Cefn Coed Mini & Junior RFC would like to wish James Regan a speedy recovery after he sustained a bad facial injury in the dying second of this encounter.

Cefn Coed Under 16's 0 Pontypridd Under 16's 26
Cefn started this game very strongly placing Pontypridd under enormous pressure right from the first whilst but a stubborn Ponty defence weathered the early storm and worked their way back into the game. The match then became an end to end affair with Ponty coming close on a few occasions and Cefn almost scoring through Daniel Wickens, Connor Power and centre, James Regan.
Just before half-time Cefn leaked the first try of the day as Ponty managed to create a two versus one on the wing which allowed the winger to sprint clear to score.
The second half started much the same as the first as Cefn pushed for the equalising try but Ponty turned over a ruck deep inside their own half to sprint in from 60 metres for their second try. This was a heart breaking score and with the Cefn forwards now tiring having placed some much effort into the first 60 minutes of this encounter Ponty were able to capitalise and run in two late tries to leave the final score standing at 26 - 0 to the visitors, a score which did not reflect the effort or endeavour Cefn placed into this entertaining fixture.

Cefn Coed RFC (Under 16's) 25
Llantwit Fardre RFC (Under 16's) 0
With the Cefn Coed Under 16's growing in confidence after recent good results this was always going to be a tough game for Llantwit Fardre. Cefn started strongly pinning their Visitors in their own half for 90% of the first period but with a number of missed chance going begging Cefn only managed a single try for all their endeavour. This try came when Captain Connor Power broke through the Llantwit defensive line to crash over for the try.
The second half was much the same as Cefn controlled territory and possession for long periods of time but this half saw Cefn run in four fine tries to round off a good performance. Cefn's second try was an excellent team effort as the ball pasted through several sets of hand before Callum Protheroe dived in to score in the corner. Next came a superb run from prop Josh Sullivan who gathered the ball a full 70 metres from the opposition try line, he then sprinted for 65 metres before offloading the fellow front rower Daniel Wickens who grounded the ball for the score.
Industrious flanker Nathan Driscoll was next to add to the scoring with a typical effort as he dragged three Llantwit tacklers over the try line before touching down for the score. Cefn rounded off the scoring with a training ground penalty move which allowed Connor Power to score his second try of the day.

Cefn Coed RFC (Under 16's) 13
Tonyrefail RFC (Under 16's) 10
Cefn Coed Under 16's produced an excellent performance to overturn a physical Tonyrefail squad having fallen behind in only the second minute of the game as the visitors started strongly placing Cefn under enormous pressure straight from the first whistle.
Having weathered the early onslaught Cefn began to play some fine rugby which allowed them to open up the Tonyrefail defence with stand-in Flyhalf Nathan Driscoll crashing over to score under the posts after good work from Daniel Wickens, Michael Jones and Chris Lewis. Driscoll slotted over the conversion and later he added another 3 points after the visitors had conceded the penalty at the contact area which allowed Cefn Coed to enter the half-time interval 10 - 5 up.
Back came Tonyrefail in the second half with a well worked try in the corner to draw the scores level in this pulsating encounter. With the clock ticking down Cefn were awarded a penalty which they opted to kick, Driscoll again striking the ball sweetly to score leaving the final score standing at 13 - 10 to the home side.

Abercwmboi RFC (Under 16's) 11
Cefn Coed RFC (Under 16's) 10
This was a tremendous game between two very evenly match teams. Abercwmboi struck first with a breakaway try which went against the run of play, the Aber winger running in from his own five metre line after sustained pressure from the Cefn Coed forwards. Cefn drew level through a fine forwards try as Michael Jones crashed over to score his first try of the campaign.
The second half was a tight affair with the home side taking the lead through a penalty for offside and then extending their with another penalty right in front of the posts. With the home side now leading 11 - 5 and with the clock ticking away Cefn made a last minute push for the try line with Captain Connor Power crashing over to score. With the referee indicating that the conversion would be the last kick of the game and with a very difficult angle, the kick was missed by outside half Chris Davies who struck the ball well but the ball fell inches below the crossbar leaving the final score standing at 11 - 10 to the home side.
